Fox & Anchor (Hotel)

Chic pub hotel stay with dog-friendly rooms near Barbican.

The Fox & Anchor is a pub with rooms at 115 Charterhouse Street in Barbican, in the London Borough of Islington. It describes itself as a pub with six bedrooms, and the rooms sit on the first floor above the bar.

Each room has a Hypnos bed, an ensuite shower, an honesty bar, a Nespresso coffee machine and dedicated working space. One feature room has a private terrace, proper living space and a copper roll-top bathtub. Downstairs, the kitchen takes inspiration from its neighbour, Smithfield Market, and breakfast dishes include Eggs Angus and chilli and lime avocado on toast. The Barbican Conservatory, St Paul's Cathedral and Smithfield Market are all within a stroll.

For dog owners, the hotel says the rooms all have space for a doggy bed (or two), and Paws of London records dog beds or blankets here.

Barbican station is a three-minute walk and Farringdon four minutes. City Thameslink is about nine minutes away.
