The Black Dog

Award-winning Vauxhall freehouse—dogs welcome, daily-changing seasonal food.

The Black Dog is a freehouse pub at 112 Vauxhall Walk, Vauxhall, SE11 5ER. The pub describes itself as award-winning and places itself on Spring Gardens. It operates from a listed building, which is why, according to its contact page, it has no wheelchair-accessible toilets.

The bar serves rotating Cask-Marque accredited real ales and craft lagers, with a wine list alongside. The kitchen works from a menu that changes daily, built around small plates designed to share and larger classic plates with a twist, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The pub says it cannot serve guests with severe allergies because of the risk of cross-contamination, and asks groups to mention dietary requirements in advance.

Tables can be booked online, and the pub says 50% of the space is kept for walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis. Outside areas cannot be booked, so a seat inside is the usual way to try for one.

Paws of London lists it as dog-friendly after an editorial check; the dog-policy card below shows where that comes from and when it was last checked. Vauxhall station is about five minutes on foot, with Kennington Oval about nine and Pimlico about eleven.
