The Three Compasses, Dalston

Award-winning Hackney pub with craft beer, burgers & a beer garden.

The Three Compasses is a pub at 99 Dalston Lane in Hackney, at the end of Ridley Road Market. Its website says the building is hundreds of years old, and that the owners took the keys in December 2011 and have tried to keep it a proper East End boozer with no pretension.

The bar pours craft beer from independent breweries, including Beavertown, Camden, 40FT Brewery, Crate, Signature Brew and Lost & Grounded, along with Guinness, single malts, gin, wine and classic cocktails. There is a beer garden, and a pub quiz runs every Tuesday. Two projector screens carry Sky Sports and BT Sports for major football, rugby and cricket tournaments. Weekend DJ nights sit alongside playlists that range from hip hop to Motown and reggae.

Dalston Kingsland and Hackney Downs are each a 7 minute walk, and Dalston Junction is about 6 to 8 minutes away. The website also lists the 30, 38, 55, 56 and 242 bus routes nearby. Paws of London lists it as dog-friendly after an editorial check; the dog-policy card below shows where that comes from and when it was last checked.
