Trafalgar Tavern

Riverside pub with historic charm and Thames views.

The Trafalgar Tavern is a riverside pub on Park Row in Greenwich, overlooking the Thames. The building opened in 1837, the year of Queen Victoria's accession, on the site of the older Old George Tavern. The pub's history page says it closed in 1915, and it did not reopen as a public house until 1965. It also notes that Charles Dickens used it as the setting for a wedding breakfast in Our Mutual Friend.

Inside, the walls carry artefacts and paintings telling the story of Britain's naval history, and each room honours a naval victory or figure. The pub has the Nile Restaurant and the Collingwood Bar. It serves pub lunches, Sunday roast and fish and chips, with more than 20 local and national beers on tap and a whiskey array of over 100 varieties. Private events and weddings can be booked.

Paws of London lists it as dog-friendly after an editorial check; the dog-policy card below shows where that comes from and when it was last checked. DLR Greenwich and Cutty Sark are each a 5 minute walk, and DLR Island Gardens is 6 minutes away.
