Rose and Crown - Clay Hill

Historic Enfield pub, family-run and dog-friendly. Perfect for a pint!

The Rose & Crown is a pub at 185 Clay Hill, Enfield, EN2 9AJ. Its website says it is one of the very oldest inns in Enfield, in a hollow between Whitewebbs Park and Hilly Fields, in an area once known as the Bridge Street hamlet.

The site tells some of the building's history. It was once owned by Mr Knott, grandfather of Dick Turpin, and an iron ring on the front wall is where Turpin may have tied up his horse. The right-hand side was added in the late 19th century and was used as a greengrocer's shop. The pub serves Beavertown beers, and its room spaces can be used for business meetings, club and society events and celebrations such as birthdays, weddings and christenings.

Paws of London records dogs welcome indoors, and the recorded evidence is that the homepage and FAQs state "Dogs welcome". The nearest station is Gordon Hill, about a 14 minute walk, with Enfield Chase at around 26 minutes and Enfield Town around 27 minutes on foot.
