The Earl of Essex is a beer pub at 25 Danbury Street, in the Angel area of Islington. The website says it was established in 2012 and describes an ever-changing list of the best local and international beers, matched with a food menu and one of the best beer gardens around.

The beer board changes most days, with a few permanent lines and mostly rotating beers from a varied mix of breweries and styles. Every Sunday is roast day, with weekly beer pairings that change with the board. Tables can be booked by online enquiry and are held for 15 minutes. The garden tables cannot be reserved and are walk-in only, because of council licensing restrictions. A card is held behind the bar for tabs.

Access is one small step to the entrance, with a ramp available on request and an accessible toilet. The pub has a code of conduct and an "Ask for Angela" scheme for anyone who feels unsafe.
