The Astronomer, EC1

Dog-friendly pub near Liverpool Street Station for drinks and dining.

The Astronomer is a Fuller's pub and restaurant at 125-129 Middlesex Street, just off Bishopsgate and a few minutes from Liverpool Street. Its look draws on the night sky, and the site calls it a pub off Liverpool Street with plenty of atmosphere.

The bar pours cask ales, craft beers and cocktails, and the kitchen serves what the site calls refined pub classics made from fresh, seasonal ingredients. Downstairs, the Rocket Room is available for business meetings, weddings and birthdays. A lift provides access. The pub has no car park of its own, although it says paid parking is usually available nearby.

Petticoat Lane market starts outside the front door, and Spitalfields market, Shoreditch and Brick Lane are a short walk away, according to its own directions. The Gherkin and the Tower of London are also close.

Paws of London lists it as dog-friendly after an editorial check; the dog-policy card below shows where that comes from and when it was last checked. Liverpool Street station is about three minutes on foot, with Tower Gateway DLR and Aldgate about six.
